Red Collar specializes in helping pet owners whose dogs have decided to go “exploring” without permission. We’re pretty good at calming the freak‑out phase, lowering the heart rate, and teaming up with you on a smart, steady plan that gives your pup the best shot at making their grand return home.

Refilling a feeding/water station daily if needed.
Following up promptly on sightings by foot or phone
Reporting sightings to your Red Collar Consultant as soon as possible
BEFORE submitting a Recovery Request for Help - we ask that you read the RESCUE STARTING LINE on our website for action steps that you can take now while you await contact from your Lost Dog Consultant!

As much as our heart breaks to see a stray dog wandering, our heart , souls and our capacity lies with rescuing owner lost dogs.
Just like local animal shelters do not rescue owner lost dogs, we do not focus on rescuing strays. We allow local animal control/shelters to focus on the rescue of strays while we dedicate our time and efforts to owner lost dogs. Our local animal shelters are overcrowded and by us bringing in strays, we are not helping the problem.
If you are a 501(c)(3) dog rescue and are in need of assistance to rescue a lost foster dog, please fill out our RED COLLAR RECOVERY REQUEST FOR HELP and we will get in touch with you.
If you are a 501(c)(3) dog organization and are willing to commit to taking in a stray dog that is at risk and would like Red Collar's help in trapping to secure such dog, please complete the RED COLLAR RECOVERY REQUEST FOR HELP and one of our volunteers will be in touch with you.
We hope to expand our services in the future to impact the lives of strays, but until that time, we can only accept cases for owner lost dogs. We appreciate your understanding.
