Paper flyers are the #1 way dogs are successfully reunited and returned to their families! If you think about it, the more flyers you have, the more eyes that view it and the more people you have on the alert to report if they see your dog.
We recommend putting at least 200 flyers up within a 2-mile radius of where your dog went missing. Flyers don’t need a lot of detail. If you don’t get any reported sightings within the first 7 days your dog goes missing, we recommend that you expand your flyers to 3-4 miles and ideally 100 flyers per mile that you expand.
PRINT WITH COLOR! If you’re not equipped at home to print with color and the volume of flyers needed, consider using an Office Max, FedEx or similar printing shop. We’ve provided access in the links below where you can easily edit the template of your choice if you choose to use one of our recommended flyers. Once you’ve edited your version, simply download and then save your flyer to make it easy to upload to (OfficeMax/Office Depot https://www.officedepot.com/ or (FedEx) Office.Fedex.com. We recommend 32lb- 65lb paper depending on your budget. We recommend keeping flyers basic as additional details are not necessary. You want the public to know what your dog looks like, that it’s missing and the phone number to call if they should see your dog.
Taking the time to put your flyers in clear plastic page protectors will prove to be time well spent. Nothing is worse than spending time putting up flyers, just for it to rain! Put your flyers in the page protectors upside down so the opening is at the bottom to prevent water from pouring in the top and ruining your flyer. Remember to either staple or put a piece of tape at the bottom opening to prevent your flyer from sliding out.
Use clear heavy duty packing tape when hanging your flyers. If appropriate for your area, you may even want a staple gun on hand to post to bulletin boards.
Get your friends, family, co-workers, church members, hobby club friends, just about anyone you know to help you get flyers posted!
